For some in the city, today is a chance to celebrate Easter with family and friends, including a big meal. Growing up, on special occasions, my grandmother would often remark: “I wonder what the poor people are doing today?” What started as a casual comment, became part of our traditions.
I won’t be gathering with relatives today, but the question is nonetheless top of mind as I head into #Thrive665. But instead of just reflecting and wondering about the situation for those facing challenges related to poverty, it’s my hope to engage in conversation.
Indeed, I joined social media last year as part of my fundraising efforts for a charity I was completing a marathon for. I’ve stayed active on Twitter since for several reasons, not the least of which is the chance to connect with others, start dialogue with like-minded people and those holding opposing views and share experiences.
To that end, we are inviting everyone to participate in three Twitter chats over the next week. We’re going to start with a coffee chat on Monday, April 1 at 2 pm, then a dinner party on Wednesday, April 4 at 7 pm and finish with a breakfast club on Monday, April 8 at 11 am.
You can join by following @FifeHouse and the hashtag #Thrive665. Discussions will be moderated and cover a variety of topics connected with the challenge and the services offered to clients.
So, can we talk?
